of bow ties.
One size truly does fit all in the land of bow ties. Originating in 17th century Croatia during the Prussian wars when mercenaries wore scarves around their necks to keep their shirts from opening. Casanova may have had a thing for an exposed chest but these men were out to achieve the highest standard of decency. Bow ties were later adopted by the French’s upper class as a cravat, French term used to refer to neckbands (i.e. necktie, bow tie). It wasn’t until the 18th and 19th century that the beloved tie flourished as a fashion staple.
